My Responsible and Ethical Use of AI
I handle all projects with care, discretion, and professional judgment. I may use artificial intelligence (AI) in limited ways to improve my process efficiency — such as to support brainstorming, organization, or language refinement — but AI never replaces my subject-matter expertise, editorial oversight, or responsibility for the final work. Current guidance for medical writing emphasizes confidentiality, transparency, and human accountability when AI is used, and I will tell you when and how I use it.
Because public-facing AI systems can create confidentiality risks if sensitive information is shared, I will never enter proprietary, confidential, unpublished, or identifiable information into public AI tools. Protecting client materials, intellectual property, and sensitive data remains my core professional obligation.
I will carefully review, verify and refine any AI-assisted output to ensure accuracy, clarity, quality, and appropriateness for the intended audience and use.
My client’s preferences guide my process. If a client states that AI should not be used on a project, I will fully respect that choice. When AI is permitted, I will use it to support efficiency without compromising confidentiality, quality, or professional standards.
